NDIS Support Services

Comprehensive Approach

We appreciate that it’s hard to tell your story over and over again. Perhaps you are disappointed with existing services or feel disillusioned about the future. We don’t have all the answers or even a magic wand but you will feel heard and validated. That means we get you and will treat you with respect and kindness. Programs are designed with you at the centre, not to “fix” you but provide you with more strategies and tools to cope with what life throws at you.

We can work across many environments, ensuring that your voice is heard and you feel empowered.

Developmental Education Therapy

Our DE is one of the few therapists in NSW to graduate from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Disability and Developmental Education. DE’s are valued and sought after in South Australia but the discipline is still relatively new in our state. The 4-year degree is disability specific, it’s foundations deeply seated in the Convention of Human Rights. At DeEd we work in the biopsychosocial model, holistically with the client and their families.
DE’s are now recognised by the NDIA and have their own line item code in the NDIA Price guide.

Empowering through hands-on learning experiences.

Nurturing connections and enriching interactions.

Equipping for self-reliant and confident living.

Unleashing creativity and self-expression.

Positive Behaviour Support

The Improved Relationship Category is one of the most regulated categories of the NDIS. This is because many people living with disability are subject to a restrictive practice with no plan to reduce or eliminate the controlling factor. This is often in violation of their human rights. Specialised Behaviour funding is to establish a function for the behaviour of concern and to find a more appropriate way of satisfying that function.

Therapeutic Support

At DeEd we are passionate about the four A’s, Autism, ADHD, anger and anxiety. The diagnosis is a starting point, a signpost to get funding but we are interested in you! The prevalence of Autism occurring with another A is high. We are curious about what works for you and what doesn’t. Our approach builds confidence and self-esteem. It starts with acceptance (another A!) So, whether you have an A or any other letters of the alphabet, we can co-design a program with you, with you at the center, working towards your goals.

Respite/Short Term Accommodation

Our respite services are available to existing DeEd clients.

This is because we accept the serious responsibility of caring for your loved one and the benefits of having knowledge about them and their family. We consider your cultural and religious practices and incorporate your wishes into our care. We use this valuable time away from home to practice skills taught, in our safe environment by trained staff.

Our overnight skills centre is the ideal place to test behaviour intervention strategies to ensure the likelihood of success.

We also use these opportunities to transition young people to independence, away from the family home. How will they cope living alone and will they be safe? Parents have valid concerns about if their young person has learned enough to live on their own. Our short-term accommodation can be a trial run for future plans.

Transitioning Across Life Stages

Life’s journey comes with numerous transitions, each presenting its own set of challenges and opportunities. Our service dedicated to Transitioning Across Life Stages provides guidance during these pivotal moments.

Whether it’s transitioning from school to work, moving homes, or any other significant life change, our team offers support, planning, and strategies to ensure smooth, confident navigation through these phases.

Assessments

Understanding is the first step towards meaningful intervention. Our comprehensive Assessments service at DeEd NSW provides a detailed, holistic understanding of an individual’s needs and strengths.

Kay is registered with Pearson Clinical, one of the leading international providers of clinical assessments, worldwide. The Vinelands 3 is a valuable assessment to use as a baseline to determine strengths, skill gaps and as a monitoring tool. The Vinelands is one of the preferred assessments by the NDIA. Other assessments can be provided on request.
